Product · Postmortems

The first draft writes itself.
You spend time on lessons, not stitching.

Every postmortem you've ever written started with an hour of tab-switching: which deploy went out, who acked it, when was it resolved, what's the timeline. Greenslope already has those facts — so the first draft is already written when you arrive to write it.

Serves this job

"When I'm writing a postmortem, I want a timeline of traces, alerts, releases, and rollbacks already assembled and narrated." (JTBD 4) · "When an alert fires, I want the last N incidents on that endpoint with linked postmortems." (JTBD 7)

§ 01How it works

Facts first, narration second, your judgement last.

The facts — spans, alerts, deploys, acks, resolves — are already in Greenslope. The draft stitches them into a narrative and gives you a markdown document to edit.

Auto-assembled timeline

A factual, minute-by-minute timeline: the alert firing, the first ack, the relevant release window, the rollback click (if any), the resolution event — all linked to the underlying records.

Narrated draft in markdown

An LLM-drafted narrative in your incident template: summary, impact, timeline, contributing factors, and action items. Grounded in the timeline — every claim in the draft cites the span or event it came from.

Incident template you control

Default template covers the common format (summary / impact / timeline / contributing factors / action items / follow-up). Customise the sections; we draft into yours.

Linked from future alerts

Published postmortems show up inline on future alerts on the same endpoint: 'the last time this fired, here's what we did'. New engineers on-call stop being surprised by recurring issues.

Export and publish anywhere

Download as markdown, push to a Notion or Linear doc via webhook, or keep in Greenslope. We don't try to be your wiki.

Dogfooded, published ourselves

We publish a postmortem for every Sev-1 / Sev-2 incident on our own systems. It's the standard we hold ourselves to.

§ 02Scope

What's in V1.

What ships today

  • Timeline auto-assembly from traces, alerts, release events, and Slack interactions on the incident.
  • Narrated draft written by the same EU-hosted LLM pipeline as the root-cause agent — same data-handling posture.
  • Customisable default template (sections editable per tenant).
  • Markdown export.
  • In-product link from future alerts on the same endpoint to any prior postmortem.

Out of scope (or V2+)

  • Auto-postmortem drawing on per-incident chat transcripts — V2+ (depends on native per-incident chat).
  • Per-incident chat within Greenslope — V2+.
  • Bi-directional sync with Notion, Confluence, or wiki platforms — V2+ on demand. V1 exports markdown.
  • LLM drafting on customer-managed inference endpoints — V2+ Enterprise.
